WOMEN'S SKI EDIT CONTEST

We're on the hunt for the next generation of women’s freeskiing talent to join the Faction team. If you’re a passionate park skier, backcountry ripper, or fearless freerider, we want to see your skills in action.

HOW DO YOU ENTER?

Create a video edit showcasing your talent and style in freeride, freestyle, park or backcountry skiing (or a mix of all of these) and submit it before the deadline via the button below.

HOW DO YOU WIN?

There will be two winners: ‘Judges Pick’, chosen by a panel of Faction riders, and ‘Fan Favorite’, which will be put to a public vote.

WHAT'S UP FOR GRABS?

The Fan Favorite will receive a flow deal worth a minimum of 4 pairs of skis per season.
The Judge’s Pick will also receive a flow deal + an invitation to an upcoming Faction film shoot.

JUDGING REQUIREMENTS

Video edits will be judged primarily on your skiing ability, personality and style, but the way you showcase this in the edit will be taken into consideration in the final decision—so don’t hold back on the editing!

Terms and Conditions

Entrants of the ‘Be The Next X’ competition consent to the below terms and conditions:

  1. This contest (the “Contest”) is open to female skiers aged 12 or over residing within the EU, Switzerland, Canada, the UK, Norway, Japan and the US. The Contest is organized by The Faction Collective SA (the “Organizer”).
  2. The Entrant agrees that all decisions relating to the Contest are at the sole discretion of the Organizer. The decision of the Organizer regarding any aspect of The Contest is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it.
  3. The Entrant may enter the Contest by submitting a video edit (the “Edit”) showcasing their talent and style in freeride, freestyle, park and/or backcountry skiing. Edits must follow the below criteria:
    1. Edit must be under 60 seconds
    2. Edit must not include any copyrighted material – edits must adhere to YouTube’s music rights and policy guidelines
    3. Edit must be an individual entry only - team entries will not be considered
    4. Edit must be submitted via the entry form on Faction’s website
  4. The Edit will be judged primarily on the Entrant’s skiing ability, personality and style however the way this is showcased in the edit will be taken into consideration in making the judges’ final decision. The Edit is not expected to be professionally produced and can be done using any technology (cameras, smartphones, GoPros, etc.)
  5. Submissions will close on April 30th 2022 at 23:59 CET / 15.59 MT. 5 finalists will be selected from the pool of entries and announced early May 2022. Edits from the 5 finalists will be posted on Faction’s YouTube channel, website and other social media.
  6. From the finalists, two winners will be chosen: a ‘Judges Pick’ chosen by a panel of Faction athletes, and a ‘Fan Favorite’ voted by the public through a voting process on factionskis.com. The two winners will be awarded prizes as follows:
    1. Judges’ Pick: A flow deal with Faction worth a minimum of 4 pairs of skis per season, valid over a 1-year period, and an invite to a Faction film shoot.
    2. Fan Favorite: A flow deal with Faction worth a minimum of 4 pairs of skis per season, valid over a 1-year period.
  7. Winners will be announced in early May 2022 (final date to be confirmed). Winners must respond and accept the Prize within 5 days from the announcement. Failing this, the Organizers may select another Winner from the Competition, and you will lose the Prize for failing to respond within the 5-day allotment.
  8. The winner of Judges’ Pick must be able to attend the film shoot as agreed with the Organizer. In the event that the winner is unable to attend the film shoot, the Organizer reserves the right to fill their spot with another contestant, OR leave the spot vacant at our discretion. Flights, accommodation and lift pass will be covered by the Organizer.
  9. Copyright of the Edit remains with the respective Entrant. However, by entering the Contest, the Entrant hereby grants the Organizer a worldwide royalty-free perpetual license to feature any or all of the submitted materials in any and all media for publicity and marketing purposes, including but not limited to YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. The Organizer, however, shall not have the obligation to incorporate the footage and/or application in future productions.
  10. The Entrant grants the Organizer the perpetual license to copy, edit, display, publish and make available their submission materials and agree that the Organizer may publish their names in connection with the Contest.
  11. The Entrant agrees that any personal information provided with their entry may be held and used by the Organizer or its agents and suppliers to administer the Contest. The Organizer is committed to protecting and respecting the Entrant’s privacy and will only use their personal information in accordance with these Rules and Privacy Policy.
  12. The Entrant confirms that they own all rights, title and interest, in and to the footage and/or materials, and thus have the authority to grant the content rights to the Organizer. The Organizer will have no obligation to any third party with respect to the use of the footage and/or materials in the Edit. The Entrant agrees to defend, indemnify and hold the Organizer harmless, without limitations, all costs and reasonable attorney’s fees which may result from any breach of the Entrant’s representations and warranties herein.
  13. The Entrant assumes all risks and dangers associated with submission to the Contest, including any and all risks associated with filming, creation or production of content for the Edit. The Entrant accepts full responsibility for their own safety and wellbeing, as well as the safety and wellbeing of any additional parties involved in filming, creation or production of content for the Edit.
  14. The Organizer and persons performing services for the Organizer, will not be held liable and are in no way responsible for any damages, claims, suits, liability, and/ or demands made by the Entrant or any other party in relation to their personal or intellectual property, physical health, image, or likeness as a result of their participation in the Contest.
  15. The Organizer reserves the right to update, change or add to the rules, regulations and prizes relating to the Contest at any point, and any updated version will be effective as soon as it is published on the website.
  16. In entering the Contest, the Entrant confirms that they:
    1. Are the skier featured in the Edit
    2. Are not currently sponsored - if you are receiving money as part of a contract beyond equipment and travel support, you are by definition a “pro” and no longer eligible. If you get free skis, clothing, or assistance with travel costs you are not classified as a professional athlete and are eligible to enter the Contest.

How long can my edit be?

Your edit must be under 60 seconds.

What kind of content should I submit?

We want you to showcase your talent. You can demonstrate your talents in one or more disciplines whether it be freeride, freestyle, park and/or backcountry skiing. Remember it's about quality not quantity so stick to your strengths.

Are there required specs for my edit?

No required specs however for best viewing we recommend HD video resolution: 1920 x 1080 px (16:9 aspect ratio). Remember if you are a finalist, your edit will be viewed on Youtube for a public vote. Adhering to the recommended specs will give you the best shot at winning.

What music can I use?

You can use music to enhance your edit and bring out your skiing style, but this must be royalty-free (not-copyrighted) music. It is your responsibility to check that your chosen track meets this criteria, more info: https://www.youtube.com/howyoutubeworks/policies/copyright/

How will my edit be judged?

Video edits will be judged primarily on the entrant’s skiing ability, personality and style however the way this is showcased in the edit will be taken into consideration in making the judges’ final decision.

Who will judge my edit?

The top 5 edits will be selected by the internal Faction Skis team. The finalists will then be judged by our panel of athletes and open to a fan vote via our website.

How should I upload my edit?

Upload your edit via the entry form on the competition page. You should use a WeTransfer link. If you have any issues with your upload, contact our team here Please ensure you utilize the following naming convention for your file:
{entrant’s lastname}-{entrant’s firstname}_{date entered}_Be-The-Next-X
Note that we will accept Youtube links as entries however if you are selected as a finalist, you will need to send us a download link and you will be required to remove the entry from your own Youtube channel.

Can I upload my entry to my socials or Youtube during the competition period?

Please share your entry directly with us via a We Transfer link. If you're selected in the top 5, we'll share your edit on our Faction Youtube channel for a public vote. If you are a finalist, you may share your edit from Faction's Youtube channel but please refrain from uploading your entry to your own social channels during voting. Following the competition period you are welcome to share your edit on your own channels.

The Be The Next X contest and prizes are only open to ameteur athletes. What do we mean by “amateur?” If you are receiving money as part of a contract beyond equipment and travel support, you are by definition a “pro” and no longer eligible. If you get free skis, clothing, or assistance with travel costs you are not classified as a professional athlete and are eligible to enter this contest. We reserve the right to disqualify entrants if we feel they do not meet our definition of ‘amateur’ or are stretching the rules too far.
